"I feel if you had "true love" whether a high school sweetheart, or a few boyfriend/girlfriends later you will know. I really also believe that the first true love will never go away, whether things didn't work out or not, you will always remember, and when you meet again you will still have your fluttering heart, your feet, knees will melt. There will always be that special one you will have feelings for, whether it be the one you marry or not. I know many who are married, yet still have that one "first love" that they always remember and think of. Its almost like they lost their soulmate. I see many mothers/fathers, grandparents that remember back in their childhood, high school sweetheart they always have those feelings for. The first love is the one you give everything for, pour all your heart and soul into, gives you the learning experience, an experience you will never forget. Sometimes you marry your first love, whereas other find new meaning for love."

When your lips first touched mine,
When our hands were intertwined,
Something happened between us,
A love that's truly blind,

You had me close and wanting more,
I couldn't resist your perfect soul,
Moving slowly kiss after kiss,
Emotions exploding loosing control,

The night was young and so were we,
It was so wrong yet felt so right,
Not realizing what would happen next,
We turned off the light,

Hours passed, each one more intense,
I won't let you go, is what he said,
I love you babe, I love you to,
Then we moved into the bed,

Some will say it was a mistake,
But then why did it feel so right?
If it was so wrong,
Why'd it last all night?

Tomorrow I'll see you pass me by,
My heart will begin to melt,
Wanting your pure love,
That we once both felt,

Afterwards in your room I asked,
Can we start over begin a new?
I felt you wanted to say yes but instead,
You said 'I don't know it's up to you',

You can't deny it our love was strong,
In both our hearts and eyes,
I guess it's true what they say,
Your first love never dies.

My first love. Never died?
A charming STC lady. Late hi sch. The prom. Later, grad ball. Then, college.
Family and Chinese relatives against. 'coz c pure Pinay. And me, although half Chinese, has Chinese upbringing.
Perhaps, cld hve ben "live happily ever after" for us. But me, a coward. Succumbed to d dictates of tradition. Ironical 4 1 rebellious in nature. Broke the relationship. Broke her heart as well.
Paid d price. A broken marriage. Really? Hard 2 tell. Divorce, nowadays, has become vry common. And marriage ... A crap commitment. :D ;)

Split-up mid-college. Yes, she's brainy. Graduated Magna Cum Laude in Physics. Was with Meralco when she went to Germany. Postgraduate studies on scholarship. Last time heard, she was living in USA. Married to a Chinese Cebuano.
But that was long ago. And many loves have I. But only one was real. And that I let slip by.
Memories still linger on. That gnawing feeling of remorse haunting me. Nights there were when I'd wake up from a dream within my subconscious self. In silent reverie, I'd recall those wonderful moments we spent together. Tackling difficult math/physics problems. "Corny naman!", friends would say, "Why not talk about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees?". Weird. Hehehe. :) ;) Must admit that's how romance was born.
Oh, how I envy her Einstein brain!

Like legend, first love really never dies.

Been divorced 10 yrs now. Been drifting so long. Many Aussies know of have been married a number of times. Hangtud karon wa pa jyud makat-on sa ilang kaboang. Dugai na lang sa Aus tonto pa gihapon. :)
Searching for first love's equal. Or, at least, one won't be sleeping with the enemy. Rekindle the flame.

Sometimes, when tutoring uni coeds, recall those times shared with her. But, this time, the situation's reversed. I'm the mentor.

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

Once again, love like you've never been hurt.

Live like today is your last
Love like you've never been hurt
Dance like no one is watching

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams
Live the life you've imagined

Love does not make the world go around
but it certainly makes the ride worthwhile

The trouble is if you don't risk anything
You risk even more
.

You want some more, because these sorts of things are everywhere on the net. And they are all right too.
The fact remains that if you remain true to yourself then you cannot go wrong. You can't learn to trust anyone again until you spend some time with them.
If you are lucky like in my case they might just help you to find strengths you didn't know you had and might work out for the better. There is an element of risk in every gain

Hang in there
Chris

Reposting this here. Thought you might be interested.

Hello all,

My wife and I have just seperated after 2 years marriage. Prior to this she was living and working overseas on cruise ships (she is filipino national) and we had a relationship in 2002 for 6 months on ship then she flew to australia each year for about a month at a time. overall prior to february 2008 when she arrived she had been in australia for a total of about 100 odd days in the 5 years. She arrived february 2008 and we married june 2008 and had our daughter march this year. She has just satisfied the 2 year residency but has not received confirmation of her being a resident. Basically I have discovered hundreds of emails to another guy she has been seeing all this time as well prior to her coming to aus and maybe a couple of other fellows as well.

She has contributed nothing prior to marriage to the asset base and since marriage she has earnt about 60000 dollars and sent 10000 of this back home.

For obvious reasons now she did not want to sign a Pre Nup as we have 4 houses all in my name all bought prior to her settling in australia but since we started going out in 2002. I managed to get her to sign a Binding Financial Agreement last month which gives her the proceeds of the sale of 2 houses maybe 100000 or so.

Enough of the money - dont really care.........

My beautiful daughter...........after 12 weeks old my wife went back to work I flew her sisters out to help with the baby and the baby was on formula and the mother breast fed at night sporadically. When my daughter was 4 months old I discovered the emails and sent the sisters packing and have been looking after my daughter each day with the wife still present but at work and the baby on the bottle and again the wife feeding her from the boob at night. This has been the case for two months me at home on holidays looking after her care

She has just moved out as I have had to get a Aus Fed Police alert on my daughter as she is a flight risk. That upset my wife as she wants to take her home but she had threatened me with not returning. I had no other option. We also have court booked for early October due to the nature of the alert. She has as i said moved out and feeding from the boob now I am sure to establish her as primary carer. She is still dropping the baby off to me when she is working as it saves her on childcare. I will have her until mid september at this stage.

What are my chances of having my daughter one week on and one week off? Has anyone had a win like that.

We are also going to mediation but she is sticking to her guns and saying when I am back at work I can only see her once a week on my day off.

There are no Stay-away orders YET. i am sure they will come. I have provided a beautiful home and future for my family but now it is all up in the air.

*******************************************************

Not meant to offend the Pinay. Otherwise, I won't be looking for a Pinay wife. Just want to show that not all apples in that basket are good ones. There's a few rotten ones. So to speak. :) ;)

Yes, it was springtime. Late March. School yr’s about to end. The prom. Later, the grad ball in April.

A SONG FOR YOUNG LOVE

Hold hands in the spring, young love
When hearts are free, young love
When skies are clear and fair
And love is everywhere
Hold hands in the spring, young love

Embrace in the spring, young love
When dreams come true, young love
When doves begin to mate
Don't wait, don't hesitate
Embrace in the spring, young love

The first love you know
That one tender glow
Happens but once and so

Be true in the spring, young love

When lips are new, young love

Though hearts were meant to take
Remember they can break
Be true in the spring, young love
Young love.

We always believe our first love is our last, and our last love is our first.

Someone interpreted this as,
“"We always believe our first love is our last": This means that young people (foolishly) tend to think that they will never be able to find another person as great as who they have now, and if they lost this person, then they would never be able to fall in love again.

"...and our last love is our first": This means that each time you fall in love again, it's more powerful and enjoyable than the relationship that came before it - so much so that you might say that this last person is the only one you truly love, and with everyone who came before, you simply THOUGHT you were in love. This is because as you get older, you get wiser with regards to how to conduct yourself in a relationship, who the right person is for you, and so on.

This is the first time I've heard this quote, but I think it's beautiful and a completely accurate summary of our understanding of love as life progresses.”

Based on my personal experience, it’s similar to T. S. Elliott’s
"We shall not cease from exploration. But at the end of all our explorations, we will go back to where we started; only to know the place for the first time".

Guess it all depends on one’s first love experience. In my case, so far, my first love was the best.

First love, with its frantic haughty imagination, swings its object clear of the everyday, over the rut of living, making him all looks, silences, gestures, attitudes, a burning phrase with no context

Why my first love never dies? ‘coz, so far, it's the best. ;)

But it was really the corniest romance. Hehehe. We were spending most of the time tackling hairy math/physics problems. Not talking about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees.  :D ;)
Used to istambai at the United States Information Services (USIS) library along Jones Ave (now, Osmena Blvd) infront of USC. After solving a problem, we’d then take a short break browsing thru US mags. Made plans for abroad. Oh, yes, California was our first choice. ‘coz she had many relatives there. For lunch, sometimes, we’d go to Swank Cafe along Sanciangko & Pelaez Sts. Watch a movie in Colon afterwards. Merienda at Chocolate House. Can still remember Magnolia Ice Cream (naa pa ba ni ron?) was the topping for the halo2X. Then, go to her place.
Not long after, my family learned about our relationship. Strongly opposed. Insisted that I marry a Chinese. I was a coward. Ironical for one infected with middle child syndrome.  ::) Broke the relationship. Broke her heart.

Reason always go back to where I started - memories of my first love. Haunting me. In silent reverie, would recall those wonderful moments we had together.

Sa pera, had the good life. Sent my kids to very expensive schools in Syd. Top of the range. But now, nosedived to rock bottom. 1 Corinthians - Chapter 13

1 Though I command languages both human and angelic -- if I speak without love, I am no more than a gong booming or a cymbal clashing.

2 And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all the faith necessary to move mountains -- if I am without love, I am nothing.

3 Though I should give away to the poor all that I possess, and even give up my body to be burned -- if I am without love, it will do me no good whatever.

4 Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited,

5 it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances.

6 Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth.

7 It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

8 Love never comes to an end. But if there are prophecies, they will be done away with; if tongues, they will fall silent; and if knowledge, it will be done away with.

9 For we know only imperfectly, and we prophesy imperfectly;

10 but once perfection comes, all imperfect things will be done away with.

11 When I was a child, I used to talk like a child, and see things as a child does, and think like a child; but now that I have become an adult, I have finished with all childish ways.

12 Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shall be seeing face to face. Now I can know only imperfectly; but then I shall know just as fully as I am myself known.

13 As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.

13 As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.
Note that added to these, and often ignored, are prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude. Note further that these last four, somewhat, qualifies the first three. The seven capital virtues; as against the seven capital sins. :) ;)

The feeling of comfort
The feeling of love
The feeling of security

Days and years pass

For the comfort I miss
Being in your arms

The love that was so strong
Is only a corner in my heart
Along with hoping you remember me

I no longer know if I am safe from all that is around me
I have no security;
I put up a wall not knowing who to trust

You were my first love
You were my first kiss
You will always remain in my heart
No matter how many years pass

For every time I walk by you in the hall
I will remember the good times and wonder does he remember me

I have a corner in my heart
I have a spot for you in my mind
I’ll love you forever!

Why mine never dies? Primarily becoz I was the one who walked out on her. Broke her heart.
Had no choice. If I defy my family what would happen? Run away from home again? Mag-unsa man ko? Tindag balut?
But it changed me. Never cared about my studies before. Also, hindi ako marunong mang-ligao. Too timid & scared & shy. Hehehe.
Was an excuse to be near her. Spent time with her. Tackling hairy math/physics problem. She was my mentor. Recall her telling me quite a few times, “Idiot! That’s not the way to tackle this problem”. Had to put up with her “tirade”. Hehehe.
After we split, promised myself gotta work myself into keeping family off my back. To become independent. Focused more on my studies. Left Cebu after grad.
Had my 2nd love in Mla. Got me baptized to the saying “love is like the lovely lemon tree”. It’s been like that since. Even my marriage ended a fiasco.
Many loves have I. But, so far, only one was real. And then, I let slip by.
Will I get a 2nd chance?   :) ;)

And the song , “The Summer Of '42”. It was an old song. First time heard from her humming. Asked her the title. She told me. Thought her interests were only math and physics. Hehehe. Didn’t know, when in the mood, she can be romantic, too. :) ;)

The Summer Of '42
Michel Legrand
“The summer smiles, the summer knows
And unashamed, she sheds her clothes
The summer smoothes the restless sky
And lovingly she warms the sand on which you lie

The summer knows, the summer's wise
She sees the doubts within your eyes
And so she takes her summer time
Tells the moon to wait and the sun to linger
Twists the world 'round her summer finger
Lets you see the wonder of her arms

And if you've learned your lesson well
There's little more for her to tell
One last caress, it's time to dress for fall. “

Saw the movie much2X later. Few months before I left Phil.
Synopsis.
The film opens with a series of still photographs appearing over melancholy music, representing the abstract memories of the unseen Herman Raucher, now a middle-aged man. We then hear Raucher (voiced by Robert Mulligan) recalling the summer he spent on the island in 1942. The film flashes back to a day that then 15-year-old "Hermie" (Gary Grimes) and his friends — jock Oscy (Jerry Houser) and introverted nerd Benjie (Oliver Conant) — spent playing on the beach. They spot a young soldier carrying his new bride (Jennifer O'Neill) into a house on the beach and are struck by her beauty, especially Hermie, who is unable to get her out of his mind.
They continue spending afternoons on the beach where, in the midst of scantily-clad teenage girls, their thoughts invariably turn to sex. All of them are virgins: Oscy is obsessed with the act of sex, while Hermie finds himself developing romantic interest in the bride, whose husband he spots leaving the island on a water taxi one morning. Later that day, Hermie finds her trying to carry bags of groceries by herself, and helps get them back to her house. They strike up a friendship and he agrees to return to help her with chores.
Meanwhile, Oscy and Hermie, thanks to a sex manual discovered by Benjie, become convinced they know everything necessary to lose their virginity. Led by Oscy, they test this by going to the cinema and picking-up a trio of high-school girls. Oscy stakes out the most attractive one, Miriam (Christopher Norris), "giving" Hermie her less attractive friend, Aggie (Katherine Allentuck) and leaving Benjie with Gloria, a heavyset girl with braces. Frightened by the immediacy of sex, Benjie runs off, and is not seen by Hermie or Oscy again that night. Hermie and Oscy spend the entirety of the evening's film attempting to "put the moves" on Miriam and Aggie. Oscy pursues Miriam, eventually making out with her during the movie, and later learns her ways are well-known on the island. Hermie finds himself succeeding with Aggie, who allows him to grope what he thinks is her breast; Oscy later points out Hermie was fondling her arm.
The next morning, Hermie helps the bride move boxes into her attic and she thanks him by giving him a kiss on the forehead. Later, in preparation for a marshmallow roast on the beach with Aggie and Miriam, Hermie goes to the local drugstore. In a painfully humorous sequence he builds up the nerve to ask for condoms.
That night, Hermie roasts marshmallows with Aggie while Oscy succeeds in having sex with Miriam between the dunes. He is so successful he sneaks over to Hermie and Aggie to ask for more condoms. Confused as to what's happening, Aggie follows Oscy back, where she sees him having sex with Miriam and runs home, upset.
The next day, Hermie comes across the bride sitting outside her house, writing to her husband. Hermie offers to keep her company that night and she says she looks forward to seeing him, revealing her name is Dorothy. An elated Hermie goes home and puts on a suit, dress shirt and heads back to Dorothy's house, running into Oscy on the way; Oscy relates that Miriam's appendix burst and she's been rushed to the mainland. Hermie, convinced he is at the brink of adulthood because of his relationship with Dorothy, brushes Oscy off.
He heads to her house, which is eerily quiet. Going in, he discovers a bottle of whiskey, several cigarette butts, and a telegram from the government. Dorothy's husband is dead, his plane shot down over France. Dorothy comes out of her bedroom, crying, and Hermie tells her "I'm sorry." The sense of empathy triggers her to channel to Hermie some of her loneliness. She turns on the record player and invites Hermie to dance with her. They kiss and embrace, tears on both their faces. Without speaking, and to the sound only of the waves, they move to the bedroom, where she draws him into bed and gently makes love with him. Afterward, withdrawing again into her world of hurt, Dorothy retires to the porch, leaving Hermie alone in her bedroom. He approaches her on the porch, where she can only quietly say "Good night, Hermie." He leaves, his last image of Dorothy being of her leaning against the railing, as she smokes a cigarette and stares into the night sky.
At dawn Hermie meets Oscy and the two share a moment of reconciliation, with Oscy informing Hermie that Miriam will recover. Oscy, in an uncharacteristic act of sensitivity, lets Hermie be by himself, departing with the words, "Sometimes life is one big pain in the a$@."
Trying to sort out what has happened, Hermie goes back to Dorothy's house. Dorothy has fled the island in the night and an envelope is tacked to the front door with Hermie's name on it. Inside is a note from Dorothy, saying she hopes he understands she must go back home as there is much to do. She assures Hermie she will never forget him, and he will find his way of remembering what happened that night. Her note closes with the hope that Hermie may be spared the senseless tragedies of life.
In the final scene, Hermie, suddenly approaching manhood, is seen looking at Dorothy's old house and the ocean from a distance before he turns to join his friends. To bittersweet music, the adult Raucher sadly recounts that he has never seen Dorothy again or learned what became of her.
After the film ends, the cast is given by showing a still photo of each of the primary cast members with a superimposed name. The movie had exactly eight on-screen speaking characters: Dorothy, the Terrible Trio, the three teenaged girls and the druggist.

so no regrets hurting someone's feelings over ambitions?
Yeah, felix, you got me really thinking on this yesterday at the beach!

Remember middle child syndrome? Wanting to prove me better than my siblings? That simply spells ambition.
After grad, I could have gone back to her. But my mind was set on my ambition. Besides, I was too proud to beg her to take me back. Pride is such a foolish mask. You could say that my ambition superseded my love.

Paid the price. Relationships were either fleeting or non-enduring. Even marriage was broken.
“The game of love I played with arrogance and pride
And every flame I lit so quickly, quickly died”
- song line from Charles Aznavour “Yesterday When I Was Young”

Now a lonely drifter. Searching for my holy grail. Will I find it? Maybe this year. Maybe next year. Maybe never. Who cares?
Di btao ako ang pataygutom. Mao nai kina-iya sa ato. Gutom na, ma-ot lang gihapon. Nagsalig lang kai kitang mga o/s Pinoy charitable man kaau. Biay2Xon pa ta.

by The Sandpipers
Each night I meant to say
I missed her through the day
But I'd forget it
I never said it
I'd pass the flower shop
Lord knows I meant to stop
But I'd say, tomorrow, perhaps tomorrow
Tomorrow there'd be time
There'd always be another spring
Time to make her laughter ring
Time to give her everything
Oh my,
Angelica, my Angelica
There's so much you never knew
So much I always meant to say
And do for you, for you, Angelica
But then the cold winds came
And when I spoke her name
And held her near me
She couldn't hear me
The shadow had been cast
Too many springs had passed
For Angelica
Sweet Angelica
Now in my silent room
I tend the flowers that I buy
As they slowly fade and die
Watered by the tears I cry for my Angelica
My Angelica
There's so much you never knew
So much I always meant to say
And do for you, for you
Angelica, Angelica, Angelica

Title: Whispering Hope
Post by: juan on November 20, 2011, 07:07:59 PM

Hang in there
Chris
"Love comes to those who still hope even though they've been disappointed; to those who still believe even though they've been betrayed; to those who still need love even though they've been hurt before. (anonymous)"  ;)

Love like you've never been hurt.

Soft as the voice of an angel,
Breathing a lesson unheard,
Hope with a gentle persuasion
Whispers her comforting word:
Wait till the darkness is over,
Wait till the tempest is done,
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
After the shower is gone.

Refrain:
Whispering hope, oh, how welcome thy voice,
Making my heart in its sorrow rejoice.

If, in the dusk of the twilight,
Dim be the region afar,
Will not the deepening darkness
Brighten the glimmering star?
Then when the night is upon us,
Why should the heart sink away?
When the dark midnight is over,
Watch for the breaking of day.

Repeat Refrain

Hope, as an anchor so steadfast,
Rends the dark veil for the soul,
Whither the Master has entered,
Robbing the grave of its goal;
Come then, oh, come, glad fruition,
Come to my sad weary heart;
Come, O Thou blest hope of glory,
Never, oh, never depart.

Repeat Refrain

Our love is verboten they tell us we are worlds apart
And we are forbidden to care.
Verboten
Verboten the dream I treasure in my heart
A dream we're forbidden to share.
It's just like forbidding the morning sun to rise at dawn
Forbidding the stars to shine above.
For we know
True love cannot be verboten
And no matter what they say
I'll give you my love.

Title: Misa de Gallo & Noche Buena
Post by: juan on December 10, 2011, 05:58:43 PM
Misa de Gallo(or Misa Aguinaldo) is the novena before X'mas. Starts Dec 16th and ends Dec 24th. Mass begins @5am.
As a kid, sometimes heard the "reveille" from Redemptorist Church, Sacred Heart Church and even distant Sto. Rosario Church. Easily distinguishable as the X'mas musical tone was distinctive for each church.
Although a Catholic, she wasn't deeply religious. Went to church as a matter of respect for tradition. For myself, me is a "Catholic". Hehehe.
But it was a good idea to rendezvous in church and to attend mass before daybreak. Redemptorist Church was the nearest (walking distance) from our two different places.

Noche Buena is celebrated Dec 24th evening. Visited her and spent a few hours before going home. Yes, I was welcomed by her family. But couldn't take her to my place. Our love was verboten.

Now, all I have are memories. :)

Too late to feel the regrets
It goes deeper than this.
Surely, you’re familiar with the old Japanese word “gidi” or “kidi”. Translated in English, it simply means “moral obligation”. But the Japanese meaning goes a lot deeper. Reason the ancient Samurai warriors, who broke the Bushido code, rather commit sepukko than dishonour his ancestors by staying alive. He loses face, anyway. Rather lose his life than lose his face. ;)
"If you don't feel it, you don't have it. (A Japanese saying)"  :) ;)
The Chinese has a similar code. I must admit that, so many times, it has greatly influenced my decision making. We are all products of the heredity and social, physical, etc factors that influence us. In other words, we make decisons based on how we are programmed since childhood. ;)
In simple mathematical equation, Heredity + Environment = You.
So, what regrets are we talking about? Me for being me? ??? Hehehe.

Let me put it this way. It was my fate.
As the late Pres Marcos said, “Iginuhit ng tadhana”. Decreed by fate.

As the song says "que sera, sera".

"When love comes knocking at your door,
just open up and let it in,
it's gonna be a magic carpet ride".

A word of warning. Your own words, actually. Don't ask yourself, "Will I be happy"? Leads to expectation. Expectation is the root of all heartaches. This type of heartache is called frustration.

Dec 26th@0100H. Woke up from a dream about Koolan Island, WA. Yes, it was a fantasy island. A beautiful tropical paradise. Can watch the breathtaking sunrise & sunset. Tropical birds flying everyhere. Also badges (kissing birds) and pheasants. Goats brought there by Portuguese explorers long before Capt. Cook discovered Aus for England. Nice for a sojourn.
Only BHP employees & families lived there. Children walked to school barefooted. A very conducive atmosphere for starting a family.
Dawg’s right. Although wouldn't say that accepting the job was a mistake. Rather, a bad decision. Stayed long and contracted marriage measles. ;D ;)
But then again, what brought me to that place in the first place? Fate.
Accepting that job wasn’t even necessary. At that time, many rich HK Chinese o/s coeds in Qld Uni. Keen on getting married to one with pr so can bring assets to Aus. Concerned that when Red China takes over HK in ’97, the govt will seize their assets.
Had this HK Chinese gf. Uncle owned largest restaurant in Bris. Encouraged me to work with him. Learn cooking/operating Chinese restaurant. Had me married her, now, a better chef than RG. Hehehe. :) ;) Not to mention becoming a restaurateur. :D ;)
But me decided otherwise. Me was pigheaded. Wanted a Fil wife.
Once again, it was fate that made me choose a different path.
Oh, yeah, me been moving on. Along the way, have made bad decisions. But also have made good decisions.
The best decision made in my life was coming to Aus in Aug 18, 1980. Why? One year later, in Aug ’81, my progressive renal failure was detected. Original plan was to go to USA. But GC interview was scheduled in '82 yet. Had me procrastinated, would never have been able to go o/s. And died long ago. Not to mention, the horrendous medical expenses family would incur.
Again, me attribute this to fate.
Marriage breakdown changed my life. The lure of wealth and fame no longer held the same fascination or urgency it once did. It is difficult to know why. They say that those who have a near-death experience often use their second chance at life to redeem their earlier mistakes; some pursue the spiritual, and others search for meaning in what remains of their existence on this earth. Discovering what this is for me has now become a quest.  :) ;)

"What hurts the most is that the memories I used to hold so close to me are now the memories I wish I could forget forever. (anon)"
“When you lose someone you love, either by choice or just by circumstance, it is inevitably very difficult on a person emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The grief from a break up, or the death of a close loved one is obviously a very trying time for a person, and can be some of the hardest days of a person's life. There are a few things to remember when going through situations such as these.
Remember that it is okay to grieve, crying is a good way to release the pain of losing someone, and laughing at the good times and fun memories you shared is also a good coping mechanism. It is also important to remember that everything happens for a reason, and to take everything you learned from the relationship you shared with that person you just broke up with, or lost unexpectedly, and use that life experience to better yourself and your future. Though it may be fresh on your mind just try your hardest to remember that this is just a season in your life, everyone faces difficulties and setbacks, but it's how you overcome them that makes you who you are. Post by: juan on January 05, 2012, 07:01:49 PM
My heart’s been broken so many times, it’s become impervious to pain. In a manner of speaking, you could say that I’ve placed a shield in front of my heart that no sword could penetrate. Ironically, I’m also looking for a damsel who possesses the sword that could penetrate any shield. This has become my quest. :) ;)
"Quest is at the heart of what I do-the holy grail, and the terror that you'll never find it, seemed a perfect metaphor for life."   :)
- Jeanette Winterson

Now, in the autumn of my life,
Still searching for my holy grail,
A true love to be my wife,
Even when my body becomes frail.

Will we find each other?
Maybe this year,
Maybe next year,
Maybe never.

"You remind me I live in a shell,
Safe from the past,
and doing' okay,
but not very well.
No jolts, no surprises,
No crisis arises:
My life goes along as it should,
it's all very nice,
but not very good.
And I'm Ready To Take A Chance Again,
Ready to put my love on the line with you.
Been living with nothing to show for it;
You get what you get when you go for it,
And I'm Ready To Take Chance Again with you.
When she left me in all my despair,
I just held on,
My hopes were all gone.
Then I found you there.
And I'm Ready To Take A Chance Again
Ready To Take A Chance Again with you,
With you."

"This song is perfect for all those who was broken and have moved on and ready to love again. This songs inspires me to finally let go of my past and fully open my heart to the present. This song made me appreciate the art of letting go and appreciate those people who have been with me in those worst days. This songs made me realize that love will never be perfect unless you feel the real pain of being in love, made me realize that love will never be love without pain and sorrow, and then happiness...This song made me fell the fulfilling feeling of moving on and finally let go, and LOVE after those pain is much sweeter than any other love you knew...just all about LOVE... Suddenly
(sung by Billy Ocean)

“I used to think that love was just a fairy tale

Until that first hello
until that first smile.
But if I had to do it all again I wouldn't change a thing
'Cause this love is everlasting.

Suddenly - life has new meaning to me.
There's beauty up rrt and things we never take notice of

You wake up and suddenly you're in love.

Girl, you're everything a man could want and more.
One thousand words are not enough to say what I feel inside.
Holding hands as we walk along the shore

Never felt like this before
now you're all I'm living for.
Suddenly - life has new meaning to me. . . .

Each day I pray this love affair would last forever.
Suddenly - life has new meaning to me. . . .
There's beauty up above and things we never take notice of

You wake up and suddenly you're in love.
There's beauty up above and things we never take notice of

You wake up and suddenly you're in love.”

Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

yeah, people can get divorced.  even in the Bible, divorce is acknowledged............ only and only by means of infidelity.

********************************************************************************

Yeah, this is interesting. The Law of Moses says, “Penalty for a woman committing adultery is death by stoning”.

Until the '60s, the Law of Moses was never really buried. No. We don't LITERALLY stone her. But she loses face. She's being ostracized. She's called a dissolute woman. Etc. Etc.

But if a man does the same, he becomes a ladies man. The envy of other men. Etc. Etc.

Those people who are hung up on the '60s remember that those were the crazy times. Riots and demonstrations were the fads. Brought the war to the campus. They stopped behaving like they'd all been knocked out of the same stamping plant. They wanted to change things. One of them was the cruel formalities that disadvantaged women.

Girls started wearing mini-skirts. Later, became micro-mini. Eventually, feminism was born.
While feminist extremists kept lobbying for more rights for women, men simply stayed home watching porno shows or elsewhere busy with their kabits.

When men finally “woke up”, laws have been established such that women have become more equal than men. As mentioned, in divorce, wife dictates the terms and husband has to go thru all that hassle of going to Court to claim his rayt.

Now, we have this Father’s Right Movement. Still a long way to go.

Now remember the last time me attended Misa de Gallo was when, following year, me split with first love. Yes, we completed the novena! Guess we were never really fated to be with each other. :(
Not too sure anymore whether mass started @5am or @4am. Remained inside church after mass watching the sacristan extinguished the candles. Softly exchanging ideas about our plans for the future. Waited 'til enough daylight outside before leaving. Then, walked with her to her home before going home myself.

Yes, there was that time,
We were sharing moments together,
That should last forever.

But came the time,
My family learned our affair,
Must split from her.

Our love was forbidden,
And should now be forgotten,
But memories still linger on.

Ako rin. But I'll know it when it comes. Reminds me of the song "I'll Be True To You" by the Monkees. :) ;)

"I'll be true to you, yes i will.
I'll be true to you, yes i will.
I won't look twice when the other girls go by.
I'll be true to you, yes i will.

Somehow this time it's all so clear to me.
The way to go is easy to see.
My heart is sure you're the girl i've waited for.
And i'll be true to you, yes i will.

I used to be the kind,
Who said that ev'ry girl's the same.
And love was just a game for having fun,
But when i looked at you,
I knew that i was wrong
And that i really could belong to only one.

I'll be true to you, yes i will.
Ev'ry dream that you have, i'll fulfill.
I never promised this to anyone before
But i'll be true to you, yes i will.
Yes, i'll be true to you, yes i will."

listening to evening melodies. Heard Chad and Jeremy's
 "When your love has gone".
Brought back memories when split with first love.
 :)

Yes, "When your love has gone" was one of the top hits at that time.

WHEN YOUR LOVE HAS GONE
Sung by CHAD AND JEREMY
"When you love has gone, there is no dawn
There is no sun to shine on you
When you love has gone, there is no-one
For you to tell your troubles to
There's no-one you can call your own
All at once, you're all alone
When you love has gone
When you love has gone

Ev'ry single day that she's away
It seems the day will never end
In your dreams at night, you hold her tight
But when the night has gone again
You realize there's no-on else
All at once, you're by yourself
When you love has gone
When you love has gone

When love has gone
You're left alone
There's nowhere you can run to
There's no-one you can turn to
It doesn't help for you to say
That she'll be back again some day

When you love has gone, you realize
You're all alone and then you cry
You try to forget, but you can't get
Her memory out of your mind
There's no-one who can take her place
Everywhere you see her face
When you love has gone
When you love has gone"

Duet with Siouxie Sioux of Siouxie And The Banshee

Time is like a dream
And now, for a time, you are mine
Let's hold fast to the dream
That tastes and sparkles like wine

Who knows (who knows)
If it's real
Or just something we're both dreaming of

What seems like an interlude now
Could be the beginning of love

Loving you
Is a world that's strange
So much more than my heart can hold
Loving you
Makes the whole world change
Loving you, I could not grow old

No, nobody knows
When love will end
So till then, sweet friend ...

Vaguely remember first love's parting words before we split, "In spite of it all, never lose the capacity to enjoy the beauty of the sun as it slowly sets behind those mountains [Banawa Hills in our place] in the horizon signifying the end of another day and that night has taken over to hide the ugliness of our world".

Ugliness! ??? Believe that was the only time she uttered such word describing our world.

Yes, our world had always been a beautiful one. Tackling math/physics problems. Making plans about going to USA. But had to end. Our love was verboten. Oh, God, how much I must have hurt her!

Was in my late teens when walked out on her. Now, in the autumn of my life. Had a collapsed marriage. Still paying the price. :)

Guess it all depends on how deep was the footprints left in one's heart -- the deeper the footprints left, the harder to erase.

We were in our late teens. What attracted me most was her intelligence. Me, being the introvert type, found it easy to get along with her when we spent time tackling math/physics problems and making plans about going to USA. We were in a world of our very own. Sharing a love that only few have ever known. Yep, to many, that kind of romance is very corny -- prefer to talk about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees.

After that, many loves have I. But they weren't as talented.

The only other brainy girl had intimate relationship with was my daughter. Noticed that even when she was still a kid. But, of course, this is a different kind of relationship.

My marriage was a bad decision. Brought about by the circumstances myself made. Shouldn't have worked in that lonely and remote Koolan Island. Influenced by the trend at that time, joined the bandwagon of Aussie blokes who went to the Philippines to look for brides.

Understand now why brain is #1 in  my selection criteria for bride-searching? :) ;)

Be warned though. Both of us are living parallel lives. Exiles. Melancholic and nostalgic. So vulnerable to becoming victims of FALSE love.

For myself, offering private tutorial services to o/s coeds with sex as payments. Private tutorials are very expensive here, not to mention hard to come by.  Purely business relationship. Nothing personal.
But, generally, these girls aren't very intelligent. Understandable. Smart girls don't need my service. And have to quit midway and go back home. Then, comes the heart-breaking story. "How will I face my family"? And the unspoken words, "Pakasli na lang ko"! Hehe. ::) Very risky. ;)

Today is the 2nd day of spring. Yes, springtime was when we first met – March. The high school prom. Then, followed by the graduation ball few weeks later.
Yesterday, was again at the Darling Harbour. Just wandering aimlessly. Reminiscing. :)

A SONG FOR YOUNG LOVE

Hold hands in the spring, young love
When hearts are free, young love
When skies are clear and fair
And love is everywhere
Hold hands in the spring, young love

Embrace in the spring, young love
When dreams come true, young love
When doves begin to mate
Don't wait, don't hesitate
Embrace in the spring, young love

The first love you know
That one tender glow
Happens but once and so

Be true in the spring, young love

When lips are new, young love

Though hearts were meant to take
Remember they can break
Be true in the spring, young love
Young love.

-Gary Walker  :) ;)
Think going back there again after this. Weather is very beautiful like yesterday. Spring is really in the air. :)

Came across obituary of ex-gf while still living in Manila way back when. Hehe :) ;) Reverted back to her maiden name. Must be divorced.
Recalled bitterness felt when she left me for another. Was one of those supported in her last sem of nursing study till secured her RN. When went to USA, got married to a puti not long after.

In retrospect, can't blame her. Like many, she was desperate to secure GC asap. :)

Life's full of heartaches and woes,
And I need the love of a woman,

When hearts are free, young love
When skies are clear and fair
And love is everywhere
Hold hands in the spring, young love

Embrace in the spring, young love
When dreams come true, young love
When doves begin to mate
Don't wait, don't hesitate
Embrace in the spring, young love

The first love you know
That one tender glow
Happens but once and so

Be true in the spring, young love

When lips are new, young love

Though hearts were meant to take
Remember they can break
Be true in the spring, young love

Title: The Summer Of '42
Post by: juan on October 19, 2014, 07:45:06 PM
Summer here starts Dec 1st. Yet, weather's been erratic. Sometimes go up to 30C. Climate change(?). Bringing back memories of 1st summer love.
“It was a dream [that almost] came true. It's probably one of my favorite memories of all time.”
-Matt Hasselbeck

The Summer Of '42. Saw the movie many2X years later. Few months before left Phil.

Remained inside church after mass 'til daybreak. Chatted while watching sacristan extinguished the candles.
Then,  walk with her to her place before going home myself.

Noche Buena is celebrated Dec 24th evening. Visited her and spent a few hours before going home. Yes, I was welcomed by her family. But couldn't take her to my place. Our love was verboten.

Now, all I have are memories. :)

Not too sure anymore whether really happened or just a dream. :-\ :)

 :)
Oh! How Much I Love You
