By Analie and Yul Balboa

Los Angeles, California – The Blush’s appearance at the Nisei Week Festival in Little Tokyo was a sure treat to all the L.A. fans. The girls performed a brief set including their single “Undivided” featuring Snoop Dog to kick off the annual celebration of the Japanese culture in America. Following the picture taking and signing of autographs we had the chance to sit down and ask some questions to the girls.

How did the name Blush came about?

Actually, the night we were formed, Jon Niermann (the former president of Disney in Asia Pacific), announced it. We were so emotional and everyone started to cry. It was the name that was given to us. It was something new, it’s young, fun and we really like the name.

So, when was the group formed?

It was formed on November 29, 2010. We’ve been together for almost 9 months now.

Is this your first time in the United States of America?

No, this is our second time in the U.S. We’ve been here in May. We recorded our first single “Undivided” and then we started the music video with Snoop Dog, and then we came back this summer. In Asia, we’ve been doing things already. In Hong Kong, we opened the show for Justin Bieber concert last May. We also performed at the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament, in April 2011. Our guest appearance at SYTYCD is our first US TV debut.

What can we expect from the Blush that we haven’t seen from other girl group?

We don’t know what’s going to happen. But we would love to show the world what we have. And we want to show everyone our talents. We want to show a positive message that dreams do come true and we want to showcase our amazing backgrounds that even though we came from different countries we have been united by our music. Its good be different and there’s unity with great music.

How do you feel about being compared to Pussy Cat Dolls, Spice Girls and other girl bands?

For us, it’s a big, big compliment. Growing up, we’ve always looked up to them and we really aspire to become good singers and they really inspired us to be like them.

Before being a member of the Blush, what were you’ve been doing?

Victoria – I am from Hong Kong, China. I am a college graduate and I did my masters. I was in Hong Kong as an artist but unluckily the doors closed on me until the talent search came to the city.

Ji-Hae – I am from Korea. After graduating from the Law University, I was in Korean entertainment with another girl group. Then, I auditioned for Project Lotus.

Angeli – I am from (Marikina) the Philippines. I was in college and I was with a band. I do gigs at night and in the morning I go to school. I received an e-mail and I auditioned in Manila.

Natsuko – I am from Japan. My mom, she has a dance school so I was dancing since I was three years old. I was trying to audition as a back-up dancer and then I decided, I just want to try singing while dancing and I want to share my talent. I want to be a star.

Alisha – I am from India. I’m 19 years old. Last summer, I finished high school and I told my mom and dad that I don’t want to go to college yet. My parents understood me and so I took a year off. Ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to be an artist and I wanted to sing, dance and in school I was always part of the performing arts that’s why I joined Project Lotus. Project Lotus is a talent search that actually found all of us.

The Blush has yet to set a date for the release of their untitled album but they are making waves already in the International music scene.

Project Lotus producer Jon Niermann, started the talent search and found the five girls to represent the Asian talent at its best thus came the first Pan-Asian girl group named Blush.
