Fiddler on the Roof is the 1971 film version of the stage musical, based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem. Tevye the Milkman is a Jewish peasant in pre-Revolutionary Russia, coping with the day-to-day problems of "shtetl" life, his Jewish traditions, his family (wife and daughters), and state-sanctioned programs.

Yes, we, overseas Pinoys, are in so many ways, fiddlers on the roof. The life we lead is almost always not the one we want to live but the one we are forced to live in order to survive. :) ;)

Paid a very high price for succumbing to the dictates of tradition. Broke the relationship with my first love. Broke, as well, the heart she gave me.
Now in the autumn of my life. A man with his name hanging in the Fools Hall of Fame. :)

Sholem Aleichem (Yiddish: ??????????, Russian and Ukrainian: ?????-???????) (March 2, 1859 — May 13, 1916) was the pen name of Solomon Naumovich Rabinovich, a leading Yiddish author and playwright. The musical Fiddler on the Roof, based on his stories about Tevye the Milkman, was the first commercially successful English-language stage production about Jewish life in Eastern Europe. ;)
