Gov pays tribute to Artists in ChainGovernor Edgar M. Chatto beamed with so much pride in behalf of Bohol District Jail (BDJ) inmate-artists during the commencement of their five-day artworks exhibit at the Island City Mall.
Themed “Artist in Chains: Sketching the Soul of Bohol”, it is the first ever art exhibit of BDJ inmates in which all peoples, not only Boholanos, are given a glimpse of what inmates are doing inside the four walls of their cells.
The participating inmate-artists who made their soul known to the world are: Joyle Alipala, Julius Cuadra, Emerenciano Demecillo, Celso Espina, Rico Nalla, Angelito Tubo, Ruvelyn Ejorango, Danilo Andoy, Cherille Clamonte, Cecilia Agnes Ortiz, Cirilo Rañoa, Armando Violon, Norman Ubas and Maida Jabines.
Chatto commended top-grade Boholano artists Ric Ramasola and Hermogena “Nene” Lungay for going out of their way to encourage and help the inmates bring out their artist’s souls.
The governor also encouraged the business sector “to promote the world-class" artworks of the inmates to make them see that there is still life after imprisonment and make them realize that they could join move on gracefully and with pride once they join again the mainstream of society”.
“Our inmates need our support. Their fruitful moment when painting their hearts out is the true rehab of self so their over-all well-being will be enhanced.
