Gwyneth Paltrow Sings at the 'CMA Awards'
« on: November 11, 2010, 11:44:39 AM »
Whether you thought it was good or bad, the highlight of last night's TV lineup was Gwyneth Paltrow's performance on ABC's broadcast of the annual Country Music Awards.

Paltrow was there, of course, not as a real country music star but as an actress promoting her January movie "Country Strong." She seemed a bit nervous (as expected), but didn't fall flat on her face during the live performance. Some, however, are criticizing what they see as Paltrow's decision to pretend to strum a guitar, which is a valid criticism if true (and it sure looks like it), but then again, so is wondering why the Los Angeles-and-New York-bred private school alumnus is singing with an approximate Southern twang. You decide!

Oh, and Vince Gill, who also stars in "Country Strong," was also there:

While it is getting the most attention right now,"Country Strong" does not mark the first time Gwyneth has taken a singing role for a movie. Huey Lewis fans -- and karaoke movie fans -- will recall her performance of "Cruisin'" in the 2000 film, "Duets."

I wish everyone would STOP hating on Gwyneth. Yes, she is tall, blonde, beautiful, born to privilege, has style, is married to a rock star and lives a dream life where she has multiple homes in some of the most amazing cities in the world - and on top of it has an OSCAR, can sing, act, and can put coherent sentences together. PEOPLE want to hate on her for these reasons, but seriously - what's the point? She's clearly there to promote the film and she's doing her job, people may not like it, but don't go in hating her blindly simply for the act of jumping on the hate parade. Seriously! I thought she was nervous but was a LOT better than some "professional" acts I've seen. She may have made some @#$%y comments about the USA before, but seriously, no one's perfect! It's not like she burned the flag and declared ware on us. Where were everyone's criticisms for Johnny Depp when he made his comments on "preferring Europe", chose to leave the US and live in France? There's always a double standard!! Gosh people, stop hating! Get upset about something REAL, not this!
