Zvonareva defeats Wozniacki in Doha final

DOHA, Qatar (AP)—Vera Zvonareva has denied Caroline Wozniacki a Middle East double by winning their Qatar Ladies Open final 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday.

The Russian earned her 11th career WTA title and first since Pattaya City a year ago.

Wozniacki was hoping to add the Doha title to the one she won in Dubai six days ago. But the Dane lost her serve in the first game, and though she returned the compliment in the next, she was broken straight back to lose momentum early.

Congrats to Vera! She proved that rankings are just numbers, and played as if she is the real number one player! ATTA GIRL!!!! HA HA HA HA! Vera played tough 3 setters against very good opponents, but never came short for the finals! Vera and Kim can easily expose Carol's weakness. Carol needs to win against any top 5 or 3 players in order to erase doubts and questions! Vamos Vera!!! JOB WELL DONE!!!!
