The question is,
contento ka na lang ba nga mag-ingon ana pirme?
Have thrown in some ideas/suggestions here. But, at the end of the day, bahala kau sa buhai nyo. Hehehe.
As mentioned elsewhere, do have vested interests.
But also have contingency plans. Always had. While living in Mla, my gc interview was still due in ’82. While waiting, was also planning to join family business in future. Diversify into elec construction. Was a licensed elec engr in Phil. Then, take night classes in MBA. Next mech, civil. Etc. Building up connections with the opulent was a good preparation for such plan.
Even when I came to Aus, plan was to live 5 yrs max. Just to have something to brag about. Then, go back home. Didn’t like it here. Racism was strong. With Asians as targets. Treated as 2nd class Aussies.
In '83, Sen. Aquino was murdered. Nation was in turmoil. On the brink of civil war. Expected to fall into communism anytime. Many fled country. Tnt/fm surged. After Marcos left, economy was bankrupt. People's power but no peso power.
Looking back, best time to go home would have been in the late ‘80s. The mall trend in Mla was in its incipient stage. Not long after, Cebu followed. Construction business boomed. Now, saturated.
But, then again, children became deeply rooted here. Not a good idea to uproot them and go back home. Priorities changed. Also, na-uso ang kidnapping. That's why, 'til now, still living here. Hehehe.
