TACLOBAN, Philippines A weakened Typhoon Haiyan slammed into northern Vietnam after devastating the Philippines, where one of the deadliest storms in history is believed to have killed thousands in one city alone.

Some 600,000 people had been evacuated in Vietnam, where at least six deaths were reported. The category 1 storm carried sustained winds of 85 mph when it hit near Ha Long Bay.

Australia also has calamities like bushfires and tsunamis. But, like Vietnam, much less fatalities.
Why is Philippines like that? Alam mo na.

Vietnam is also a 3rd world nation. Why it had a more disciplined response? Maybe bcoz it knows that, for historical reasons, western countries, like USA, may not be too keen to provide aid. :) ;)

Really embarrassing! Why 5k Yankee soldiers have to be deployed. Can't the Philippine military control the populace? ???
