Me, too! Most fetch water from a nearby well (tabai). Water pump costs money. An empty paint can is tied with a rope and lowered down the tabai. Then, water is placed in a bamboo tube called pusong(?). Carried to the house and collected in a water jar (banga).
No need to boil before drinking. Been immunized 'coz grew up drinking that way. Boiled water not nice to drink, anyway -- becomes calcified (hard water). Need to be treated some "softener" to have pleasant taste.
No mosquitoes, then. Daghang katago-an ang lamok. Also, not as polluted as now.
Di na tingali ingon ani karon.
Cebu soil is poor. Only tiny husky corn can be raised. Is one of the principal produce. Can't raise humai. Had to be "imported" from surrounding islands like Bohol and Leyte.
Miss those days.
