A Mindanao-wide blackout happened early morning on Thursday, February 27, affecting various areas of the island., according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
The affected areas include Davao City, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, North Cotabato, Bukidnon, Maguindanao, Zamboanga City, Butuan City, General Santos City, South Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro City, and Sultan Kudarat.
In Davao City, the Davao Light Power Company (DLPC) said the sudden power outage started at 3:30 a.m. affecting the entire city. Power was restored in some areas past 5 a.m.
In Zamboanga City, the power went out at 3:53 a.m., affecting alll 26 feeders that supply more than 90 barangays
Cesar Melad of the Zamboanga Electric Company (Zamelco) said that lines 1 and 2 at Pitogo and Sangali substations supplying electricity failed to provide power to the feeders due to lack of power from NGCP.
Power was restored at 4:52 a.m. in the Putik feeder followed gradually by all feeders. Power was fully restored at 8:12 a.m. at the San Jose Gusu feeder.
