DAVAO CITY—Araw ng Dabaw commemorates the blessings bestowed upon what is recognized to be the largest city in the world, Davao coming into full control of the Filipinos. This celebration pays homage to the people’s collective mettle that makes the city what it is today, a thriving and competitive economy known for its combination of culturally rich traditions, jam-packed escapades, and culinary fêtes.
One of the highlights of the event is the Sayawan sa Da’n (street dancing), which takes center stage in downtown San Pedro. This street revelry has become a traditional feature of the fiesta, now known to be one of the biggest day-time crowd drawers, attracting locals and tourists from other cities and provinces, even abroad.
