Been there in '64. Now, me is 64. Hehe  :) ;)

Run away from home. Boarded M/V CdO in Cebu for CdO. From CdO, went to Davao via bus. Traveled whole night. Had supper in Malaybalay, Bukidnon carenderia.

Early morning was foggy. Couldn't see top of very tall trees. Was still virgin forests, then. Now, bald due to indiscriminate logging.
Sky cleared later. Could see monkey-eating eagles hovering above. Now, extinct in Philippines, but found in some US zoos captured and brought there by Kennedy clan.

Arrived Davao just after lunchtime. In Davao, went as far as Mati where Menzi Agricultural Corporation (MAGRICO) orange plantation was.

Remember it as yet another great adventure in my life. :) ;)

Had no plans of going to Mati. A Chinese byahidor needed an assistant. M/V Gov. Smith, the only vessel for Mati, was due to arrive there. Friend purser was entrusted with byahidor’s goods. After getting rid of his goods in Mati, we went back to Davao City. Midway is a town stopover for breakfast. Byahidor didn’t need me anymore.
Can still remember Butuan Rabbit Line as the bus company name. Bumped into another byahidor on his way to Butuan. Joined him. Hehehe. :) ;)

Also, been to Dadiangas (now, called GenSan) by boat. Had no pantalan. Nearest was in Makar. From Makar had to catch a jeepney to Dadiangas.
Pioneer Ave’s the main road in Dadiangas which ends in T-junction with the municipio – similar to Osmena Blvd which ends in Cebu Provincial Capitol. Along the side was road going to Polomolok (65K(?) from Dadiangas) – a small town near Mt. Matutum. Dole Pineapple plantation (competing with del Monte Pineapple in CdO) was still newly opened. Two shiploads of seedlings were imported from Hawaii by the Dole Brothers. There were two springs for bathing – the Mateo and the Thaddeo.

Yes, indeed! It was one great adventure in my life. :) ;)

Not easy to forget what one experienced so young -- 14. My initial exposure in the business world of a byahidor. Became very beneficial for me when left for o/s many years later.

Yep. That was me -- young and restless; wild and wanton. Hehe. :) ;)

A region despoiled of its pristine beauty by unchecked development. :(

Still "young" and restless;  wild and horny. :D But no longer in the best of health. :(
