A Grade 11 student from Xavier High School alarmed school officials and passersby after he was seen sitting on the ledge of their school's fifth floor sometime past noon on Wednesday.
The school authorities immediately called the San Juan City Rescue Team, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for help.
Police said the boy didn’t have any demands, but revealed he had family problems. At some point, the police handed him a phone so he could talk to his parents.
After about an hour of talking to authorities, the boy was convinced not to go through with his plan to jump off the building. He agreed to get back inside.
Police later learned that this was not the first time the boy had made such a move.
