MACAU - Dionesia Pacquiao, the mother of reigning WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, once again became the talk of the town for her antics during his son's first title defense.
Mommy D, as she is commonly called, was a hit from the weigh-in proceedings on Saturday morning as she waved to the crowd who showered her with cheers. Before the fight, the cameras caught Mommy D praying over his son while clutching a rosary.
She made a grand entrance wearing a light pink Filipiniana terno. The appreciative crowd clapped and cheered when they saw her making her way to the ring. The cameramen were already completely aware of how she acts during her son's fights so they often tried to capture these moments during the round breaks.
Even Senator Sonny Angara could not help himself from taking a quick picture of the PacMom after the fight.
After Pacquiao was announced as the victor, Mommy D was quick to get inside the ring to raise her rosary as her son knelt in prayer on one of the corners. She did not stop there as she raised her rosary and walked around the ring.
During the fight, Mommy D was shown on camera crouching behind a row of seats, apparently deep in prayer. The sight drew laughter from crowd and even one of the television commentators. Her prayers were answered once again as her son easily won his fight.
