How long as a gc holder before finally securing your citizenship? Remember has always been like that -- takes ages.
When I came to Australia on pr in '80, took me only 3 yrs to become an Aussie. Later, was reduced to 2. Now, like US, also takes ages.
Wasn't planning to become one. Live here 5 yrs max, then, return home for good.
The murder of Sen. Aquino changed everything. The Philippines was in turmoil. Peso value nosedived. On the brink of civil war. Expected to fall into communism anytime soon. TNT/FM surged. Not advisable to go home.
Now, want to go home for good ... retire and marry a 16-yr-old lovely Pinay whose brain is a gold mine. In the spring of her life ... her whole life in front of her ... help her lead a better life.
Teach her which ropes to pull ... then, skipper yacht ... eventually, own yacht when gone.
Again, not advisable. Too many haters ... inggiteros ... lazy parasites ... ungrateful bigots ... crab mentality ... colonial mentality ... etc ... etc ...
No wonder that country is still a gutter and will stay that way forever.
Yes, indeed! Fate is inexorable.
