The 48th Miss International pageant took place on Saturday evening at the Venetian hotel in Macau. The winner was announced as hot favourite Miss Spain, 18-year-old Alejandra Andreu. She was also awarded the Miss Photogenic title during the spectacular finale.
Alejandra was extremely pleased with her win and her parents were also shedding tears of joy as they watched from the audience. Currently a student, the winner expressed a wish to complete her studies after the pageant.
The first and second runner up places went to Miss Columbia, María Cristina Díaz-Granados and Miss Poland, Anna Tarnowska. Miss China, Chang Wen Liu (
) and Miss Czech Republic Zuzana Putná?ová took the fourth and fifth place awards. Chang Wen later said that she was particularly pleased with her dance routine, but she was a little disappointed about just missing out on a top four position.
The Hong Kong representative Sire Ma (??) came away empty handed and ended a four year run of Miss Friendship awards coming back to this year's production hosts TVB. Sire expressed her disappointment about not making the top 12, but said that she enjoyed the participation and the experience
