(UPDATE) 'TyphoonOndoy' Lashes Central Luzon; 30 areas affectedABS-CBN News Online BetaTropical Storm “Ondoy” has made landfall in Quezon province the weather bureau reported Saturday and is battering Luzon with heavy rains causing floods in many areas including Metro Manila.
As of 10 a.m. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), spotted Ondoy near Infanta in Quezon province.
Ondoy is packing maximum winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
The tropical storm is moving west northwest at 19 kph. The storm is expected to be 230 kilometers West Northwest of Iba in Zambales on Sunday morning and 610 kms West Northwest of Iba on Monday Morning.
Public Storm Signal No. 2 is still up in the provinces of Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Northern Quezon and Polillo Island.
PAGASA raised Storm Signal No.1 in Isabela, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, the rest of Quezon, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro provinces, Lubang Island, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Bataan, and Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the downpour has flooded many areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Laguna and Bulacan.
Five barangays in San Juan were affected by floods caused by the non-stop rain.
In Cainta, Rizal, Imelda Avenue located in Barangay Sto. Domingo is no longer passable to any type of vehicle as floodwater is already up to the chest.
In Marikina City, the Office of the Civil Defense in the National Capital Region reported that around 75 families had to be evacuated from their homes to Malanday Elementary School.
Some roads in Barangay and other areas in Binan in Laguna province have been reported to impassable to vehicles due to about a meter-deep flood.
In Bulacan, six barangays in the town of Marilao including Poblacion Uno, Nagbalon, Ibayo, Saog, Abangan and Lias are now submerged in about one to three feet of floodwater.
Flooding was also reported in Meycauayan in Bulacan province, particularly in barangays Bayugo, Langos, Gasak, Zamora, Bancal, Poblacion, Saluysoy and Hulo. With reports from ANC and dzMM Teleradyo
