still waiting for the result of RENAP exam which i took last Oct.7...
hope i'll pass.. Certified Renal Nurse na ako if ever.
Renal Nurse? Probably know more about it than you. Been a renal patient for nearly 30 yrs now. As a dialysis outpatient, learned how to cannulate myself, etc. Many newly-arrived nurses here, including Pinays, aren't even allowed to take bloods.
Been a kidney transplant outpatient for the last 5 yrs. Have 3 kidneys. But only one is working. The new one. My native kidneys are vestigial kidneys.
To begin with ... Left Phil Aug 18, '80. 1 yr later, diagnosed as having glomerulonephritis. Nephritis for short. Scientific term - IgA nephropathy. End-stage renal failure predicted 15 yrs later. Started dialysing Nov, '97 -- 16 yrs later! 1 yr off! Quite an accurate prediction.
Must have had it while still in Phil. But, as doctors would say, at an early stage, a disease is hard to detect, but easy to cure. At a late stage, a disease is easy to detect but hard to cure.
Stroke of luck. Had I procrastinated in deciding to leave Phil, would have never been able to come here. And died long ago in Phil. Not to mention the horrendous med expense family would incur. Rich Aus has one of the highest health standard in the world.
Long2X story. Thinking of starting a thread. Still too lazy to do it. Gotta unlazy myself. Hehehe.
